A group of 20 people ventured out in the cold this past Saturday to learn what it takes to oversee a conservation property. Phil Auger of the Southeast Land Trust of NH led the workshop covering how to use a compass and land map to locate boundaries and note property features. The group then took a walk through Broadview Farm taking note of various features of the property in particular the low lying brush and wetlands that offer great protective habitat for small animals and birds
The purpose of the workshop was to train volunteers interested in helping the Conservation Commission by periodically walking the towns conservation properties and reporting on what they find.
Land Steward volunteers will meet for a second time on April 11 at 6:30pm, 3rd floor of the Municipal building (prior to the regularly scheduled Conservation meeting). This meeting will focus on what kind of information the Conservation Commission is looking for and how to report it.
