It’s Time to Brighten Up the Neighborhood

April 22nd will mark Earth Day this year and Go Green Derry would like to remind everyone that Every Day is Earth Day.

In celebration of Earth Day we are hosting a town-wide clean-up week from April 16 -23. And we are asking every citizen in Derry to pitch-in and help by picking up roadside litter; raking, mulching, and planting in community areas. The town will provide mulch on request, contact Parks & Rec for information.

The Derry Transfer Station will provide blue trash bags to anyone who asks. Stop by the Office at the Transfer Station and say hi to Joanie. Let her know where you plan to clean-up and she will send a town truck out to collect the blue bags you’ve left by the side of the road.

We have already had a number of groups in town sign on for the big clean-up. Below is a list of organizations that have made commitments.

  • BS Troop 402 – Broadview Farm
  • BS Pack 405 – First Parish Church
  • BS Troop 405 – Forrest Lawn Cemetary
  • BLIA – Around Beaver Lake (Apr. 23)
  • East Derry Memorial School – Around the school

Others that have said they will be out doing their part.

  • BS Troop 240
  • BS Troop 98
  • Derry Montessori School

If you and your friends, neighbors, organization are working to bring out Derry’s inner beauty, let us know so we can say thank-you.
